Final Artist Statement #2

After thinking more about my brainstorm, I felt inspired by some of the earlier Pink Floyd songs that involve a lot of random sounds compiled together, a lot like John Cage’s compositions. After going through basically every sound in the classes google drive, I found a lot of sounds that I knew I could incorporate into a pink Floyd sounding song. I wanted to start to sound something like the song “Wish You Were Here” in which the beginning starts with a record player kind of sound then some kind of switch and then you start hearing people talk and then some more random sounds and finally the guitar starts playing. I tried to emulate this kind of beginning the best I could. I then wanted to add some kind of weird drum noises like the beginning of the song “Time”. Using some of the guitar noises I thought it would be cool to make a rift of sorts so that’s what the guitar sounds are. I also knew that at some point throughout the song I needed to add the sounds that I recorded of my cat Kevin meowing. At first, I thought about making a really annoying song like Nyan Cat with the sounds I had but it was very hard to listen to meows over and over again when I was editing it that I decided I could no longer go on with that idea, so I decided to just add in a little compilation of meows that works well with the ominous banging noises.
